Ashiatsu Massage
Ashiatsu (pronounced “Ah-shee-aht-soo”);
This ancient practice, which involves a massage therapist literally walking on your back, has been performed by Buddhist monks for centuries and is now available in various forms across America Using overhead bars for balance, this entire massage is performed with feet. Soothing strokes and deep pressure work the muscles to release toxins and induce deep relaxation.
This is perfect for people who love deep tissue work or can’t seem to find a therapist to do deep enough work for them. Meaning “foot” (ashi) “pressure” (atsu), ashiatsu clients are simply calling this technique “heaven.” And although ashiatsu sessions may appear unconventional, with technicians often holding on to specially-attached ceiling bars to maintain their balance while walking on a client’s back, this type of bodywork is being explained as a luxurious, deep-tissue massage.
Barefoot massage is known to improve posture, relieve pain and stress, treat spinal problems, and provide an incredibly deep massage, all while still being gentle.
